In 1995, I had a conversation with my late father, Martin Fishman, to share a dream I had been cultivating of creating an independent financial planning firm.
My father, an insurance broker, passed along an ethos of service to others and philanthropy, which he inherited from his parents. He reinforced the importance of financial independence and encouraged me to take business classes. In college, I majored in economics and in law school I specialized in taxes and estate planning.
I didn’t find satisfaction in practicing law, which can be so adversarial. I was drawn towards making a difference in people’s lives on the financial side. This became the foundation of my career and continues to provide the compass for my life and our firm. I love helping others achieve their goals and better control their destinies.
JSF started as a dream and I am so grateful that it has evolved into a thriving business. I have been joined by a lively, diverse, growing team of dedicated professionals.
